Hummingbird in action; the player is static in the centre of a pentagonal arrangement of red entities. Hummingbird, with the player in a section with the colour cycle shader active. The player is moving through a collection of entities and firing musical notes. Hummingbird, with the player in a section with an entirely blue colour palette, and in the midst of a field of very active entities. Hummingbird, with the player in a section where background drawing has been deactivated, resulting in a chaotic palimpsest of patterns. Hummingbird, with the player in a section with a very pink colour palette, and the text 'Draw strength from the ingratiating machine; it will harry you. Rough jewels will grow & pounce' visible. An image divided into 4 quadrants, with the top 2 quadrants showing a printed copy of the Hummingbird Manual, and the bottom 2 showing a printed copy of the Hummingbird Zine.

Hummingbird is an infinite procedural musical exploration game.

Built around a complex set of synthesizers and procedural behaviours and colour palettes, the world you encounter will be different each time you play.

I also made a manual for the game, and a handwritten zine containing hundreds of text fragments generated by the game's text generators. Both available as PDFs on itch.io.

Exhibited as part of the Videogames: Design/Play/Disrupt exhibition at the V&A Dundee. See also the custom controller I built for the game.
